If you want to be competitive, leave the springs stock. That way you can stay in F-stock.

If you change the springs you will be bumped to a ‘prepared’ class (ESP) where there are a lot of allowed modifications (meaning you will have to spend a lot more money to get back to the top of the class).

Alterations to the following parts are allowed in ESP (based on a quick glance at the rule book):
Shocks
Springs
Sway bars
Any Rim and tire size
Bushings
Ride height
Ignition
Battery relocation
Intake
Exhaust
LSD
Port matching
…The biggest players being springs, lowering, tires, and LSD.

An LS1 Z28 with big front sway bar and good shocks is THE MOST competitive car in F-Stock (IMO). If you change springs you will start at the bottom of a new class.

There are also two new ‘touring’ classes this year called STS2 and STU (you would be in STU due to tire size) but they may not be offered by your club this year, or there may not be any one else running in them (that’s no fun). STS2 and STU are a resting point between ‘stock’ and ‘prepared’ and would be a better choice if you are only changing springs.

I think I have said too much…

Leave the car stock... learn its limits before you modify them and change them. I pull off the STB for the SCCA events so I can tun F stock...very competitively. Really need a set of victoracers, and then

Congrats man on enjoying it. Kind of fun to participate in event where hp or cubic dollars doesnt always mean the best times. Example: I have seen a Focus 3 door on victos run better/faster than a ZO6.
