car setup questions

Hey guys I was looking to do some auto x and I noticed that you aren't suppossed to have any leaking fluids and they check a bunch of other crap like your battery to make sure it's held down good. If I have a leaky 350 like most people and I need to know it would pass inspection. Also if the battery is strapped down by something other than an actual battery tray will that work? thanks alot

Re: car setup questions

As long as it doesn't leak oil onto the track or your exhaust, you are fine. If anyone complains, explain to them that an any 50's to 70's small British car is known to leak more. In fact, if it stopped leaking, then you started to worry you were low on oil!

:-)

Re: car setup questions

I have worked at tech inspection and I had a guy come thru with a very loose battery. I had him take his belt from his pants and put it around the battery so he could run. What we look for, is to make sure when you turn, the battery will stay where it is supposed to be. As far as fluids, how much is leaking? If someone see's smoke while you are running, that could be a problem, slight drips should not be an issue.

Re: car setup questions

I don't think it is leaking on the exhaust. I am pretty sure it won't be a problem. I would fix the leak but somehow it doesn't seem worth it to tear an engine apart that has 107,000 miles on it just for a few drips on the cement and the occasional putting some oil in. I will have to figure something out for the battery though. Thanks alot for the info fellas

Re: car setup questions

Probably in infamous intake manifold leak. You'll be ok as long as it doesn't leave puddles.

Just make sure your battery won't move, however you have to do it. You shouldn't be able to wiggle it at all.
