17" SS wheels -- weight savings...?

Have 17 silver SS wheels, with YokoA032R rubber.

They will replace 16" salad shooters with GSCs.

Ideas on weight savings/gain?

Thanks in advance.

... what a great technical forum!!!

The 17s will be a little heavier, you're replacing rubber with metal. This page:

http://www.bfranker.badz28.com/fbody/weights.htm

suggests that it will be 5-10 lbs/wheel.

Hey Cam!

With all that extras weight, you are going to put yourself at a disadvantage, unless you step up with better shocks.

I just checked this last week with a pro-grade people scale.

95Z 16x8 salad shooter with worn BFG Comp TA VR4 245/50/16- 42lbs

00SS 10spoke 17x9 with new Goodyear Eagle F1 GS 275/40/17- 45 lbs

Again, that was with a people scale, so those absolutes might be off, but it illustrates the difference pretty well.
