Trans Am Sleepy Eyes

this was brought to my attention the other night when i was talking to a guy who was tellin me about his buddys 240sx. he said that they made kits for those cars so that the headlights only came up half way. i was thinkin why woudl you want your headlights to only come up half way but the more i thought about it it might look cool. it wouldnt make the headlights look so big and funny when the lights are on. i was just kinda wondering if any one has ever seen this done on a t/a or ever heard of anything like this and what you guys think of it....

Re: Trans Am Sleepy Eyes

I've had plans to do this for a while... never had the time or $$...

I'm hoping to this winter though.

Mine are going to open about 4" total height Vs 8" stock.

Re: Trans Am Sleepy Eyes

thats why i stated above "and make your headlights work right". i mean yea, i can stick soemthin in tehre so taht hte motors stop and dont go up all teh way, but thats pointless. im talking about making the lights come out in a smaller area and still ahve fully functional lights.

I'm basically re-designing the entire headlight assembly. I'm re-using the lifiting motor, body plate, and the adjustment plates for the Body Plate.

I'm fabbing the rest outta billet aluminum and acrylic.

I'm using a set of Bi-Xenon HID Projectors for headlights.

I definitely like the sound of your idea. Especially for lt1 TA's because they sit so high off of the hood when raised that they look akward. Keep us posted.

Oh, once I get moved into my house and settled in (I'm closing in ~ 2 weeks), then I'll be able to get my mad-scientist room set back up. Once I have that, it's one of may projects that will be finally be able to be worked on.

Espeically since I will now have a 2.5 car heated garage to work in.

Steve since I don't have flip-up headlights, can I paint my windshield wipers bright yellow and leave them up halfway instead?

Well personally, Iwould just put a timed relay that turns on for the amount of time so you can adjust the height it goes to. Reaiming the headlights for my third gen takes a minute, its just 1 screw. For the 300ZXs, the sleepy eye mod was as simple as cutting 1 wire if I remember correctly.

Re: Trans Am Sleepy Eyes

I am really interested in this mod. I have been hoping for the longest time someone would figure out a sweet setup that would come up half-way and use HID technology. Maybe even a clear setup that sits inside of the headlight bucket area and uses the bubble eyed projectors. Kinda like the new C6 vette, C5's have a kit like this also and I have seen it on NSX's and RX7's. Somebody please make this possible.

Nope, I'm in my house, but have been buried in getting settled in; I just got my office 1/2 setup over new-years weekend. I'm getting to the point where I can start working on it again; soon I hope...

Re: Trans Am Sleepy Eyes

At least it would be something different... I've seen the 'sleepy eye' look on a Z06 before and it looked good. Haven't seen it on a T/A however. I would think that it would look better on the LT1 T/A's than the LS1's but thats just my opinion

yea, for you ls1 guys the lights dont stick up as far. not to mention you have those 'nostrils' that are already raised up quite a bit so it doesnt look as bad. even with our ws6 hoods they still look like they stick up a mile....
