Yes 10 would be enough.

Start with taking off the panel under the dash, then the dash panel that goes around the gauges, which is much easier to take off when the whole dash panel is taken out (gives you more light and room to take out screws underneath it), along with the panel around the radio and the plastic strip that runs along the thing above your head, where the window meets the roof (be careful not to break the prongs that hold this on). After these are off, you can take the gauge cluster out and it's pretty self explanatory from there.

Give yourself a good half hour and take your time so you don't break anything. Keep track of all the screws you take out and be sure to put em all back in or you'll get rattles like me

is it 10 bulbs to replace just the ambient backlighting? i only counted 7 on your diagram, am i missing something?

i want to just change the backlighting, but leave the indicator stuff and dummy lights the stock color. basically i want to make it look like reverse indeglow with the speedo and tach and such glowing blue. which bulbs do i replace to do that?

It takes 7 bulbs. I did mine in red. I would also like to know what you did to change over the HVAC bulbs to a different color. Thanks.

Yep I know. How did you hook up the LEDs? And which ones did you buy. THanks.

Wow, isn't the SEARCH function a wonderful thing?!

I've been wanting to change my dash lights for a while now (either to blue or red........I'm still undecided!) and this thread helps out SO MUCH!! That diagram is awesome!

Again, I'm torn between blue dash lights, or red. Maybe I should just try both?! I know that a lot of guys hate the red backlighting in Pontiacs (including T/A's, etc.) but I had a Sunfire before my Camaro, and I liked the red backlighting. Maybe that's what I'll do!

Glad the diagram is being used...

I think red would look great, plus it would match the rest of the car (in most cases).
