Photoshop question
On an image of a Hvac panel , how do I separate all of the icons from the background . If figured out how to lasso things , but I cant get the icons to be precisely outlined .

Have you tried the magic wand?
I'd use that, and mess with the tolerance settings until it captures exactly what you want. You can select things based on their RGB value, hue, brightness, etc. and then mess with those numbers.
Also try clicking on different pixels with the wand, as some may give you different results.
Lets say white symbols, black background. So when you click on a symbol, it should select everything white, and everything almost white, depending on what your settings are. Raise the tolerance, and it will select a little bit more of that gray inbetween color. Raise it to much, and it might select too much of that black background.
You should be able to use the shift key to select mutiple items once you've got all your settings ready to go, if you need to do that.
