Question

now another question

I'll be doing the same thing in the month time with the decals I've already got. I know that painting is not that complicated since Iv'e done it on my wife's VW but if I put the decals shuld I put them on the paint and spray the clear coat over it or just put them on top of the clear coat ?????

thanks

The way I did it, was I sanded, primed, and painted the caliper. Waited a few days for the paint to cure, cleaned the caliper with a damp rag, dryed it, applyed the decal, and then put 4 coats of clear over it.

Oh yea, definitely clear coat the decal as well. I plan on doing that when they came in. I went out there today to see how my calipers looked, and they look very nice. The 2 pictures with the tire mounted were done yesterday, and the picture with it off was done today. It was in the process of drying when I took the picture. That is with it painted with about 5 coats, and 2 coats of clear coat.

I just used the Duplicolor cleat coat. You can buy it at any Walmart or Autozone I believe. I used Duplicolor for the primary color as well.

Does anyone know what the calipers are made of? I work in an anodize shop, and if they are aluminum I could anodize mine red.

What color calipers would look good on a Mystic Teal Trans Am? Does anyone make 'Trans Am' decals?

i took my caliper and bracket off. then i used a dremel to get all the big casting marks off. cleaned them up with some break clean. then i put 3 coats of dulicolor 1200* paint, then the decal then 4 coats of dulicolor 500* clear. I also put 4 coats of clear on the bracket that i poished. turned out realy well.
