Need ideas for coverplate in radio area.

I didnt know what else I could put in the subject, but basically I am installing the new pioneer avic-n1 pop-out navi/dvd headunit in my 97 Z28. I am actually mounting the headunit in the slot where the a/c controls normally go and putting them up where the radio would normally go. Since the face plate of the a/c controls isnt 1.5DIN size I need some ideas what I could use to cover the gap that is left on the top of the controls. I know this might be confusing and the reaosn im doing it this way is because I dont want the pop-out screen blocking my fog lamp/traction switches and A/C vents.
Thanks for the help.

I made a radio delete plate out of 0.025" aluminum, sprayed it with "graphite" vinyl paint from Eastwood Company. Has a "flat" finish that matches the dash plastic. I have also made a set of these for a 30th SS that had removed the radio, AC controls and vents, and added a switch to one of the vent holes.
