LS1 front end conversion finished!!UPDATED PICS of new paintjob inside
700 Dollar hood
There's no way that he's going to be able to tell you the board member that gave him that hood, because he probably got it as a favor and the guy probably just happened to have access to an extra hood.
I got mine for 750 off ebay from a guy who just happened to have one that he took off another SS for warranty work. The paint was bad on it and they just gave the SS owner another hood. The old one was sanded down and coated with 2k primer and he sold it to me for 750.
You're just gonna have to keep your eyes peeled and see if you can't stumble across one. It literally tooke me 3 days to stumble across this one on Ebay. Not long at all. Just look around...you'll find one!

The only thing I can see that might be a little tricky is the fitment of the tubing. On the LT1's, the intake is an oval shape whereas on the LS1's it's round. I'll have to customize a VERY short transition from the roundness of the MAS to the oval of the intake. I haven't looked yet, but I'm pretty sure I can just hack a section out of the old air tubing. Seems straightforward enough. Anyways...wish me luck. I'll be taking pictures as I go along...hopefully.

Yes it does. The only thing you have to tap holes for is the lower headlight bracket, and the upper brakets have the place to be bolted but need to be threaded. The main wire harness is right behind the passenger side where you need to tap the hole, so I emphasize NOT to accidentally drill through it.

Well, chas...I'm still waiting on the lower portion on the airbox before I can really get started on that portion of the swap. I sent a money order to a guy for one off ebay...but he's saying he never got the money...so...It's been delayed a couple weeks while I sort through what's going on with that. The front end conversion itself is going pretty good...it's just not exactly as much of a weekend project as one might have thought. It's a fairly in depth process, IMO. The Airbox swap is going to be a little in depth too, as I got a lid that will require the appropriate sensors to be mounted...and a corvette intake duct that I'm trying to make work between the MAS and the throttle body. So...not really a whole lot has changed since my last post. I've been tied up repairing some of the other damage to other areas of the car. I'll probably have at least the body portion of the conversion done by the end of the week if I can find some spare time after work. Then, off to paint she goes!
I'll snap a few shots of the airbox conversion when I do it...then if you want them, I can send them to ya.

I was under the impression that the suncoast creations hood and airbox is a COMPLETELY different type of setup. Some would say better...I dunno...I'm going to the Ls1 type airbox. The suncoast creations airbox is like that on the 96 SS ram air hood, where the filter sits up on top of the engine. The way I'm doing it is the LS1 type airbox and newer SS style hood, where it utilizes the factory airbox from a 98-02 camaro. I could be wrong about the suncoast creations style airbox...but I THINK that's how that one works.

ok thanks hey your camaro looks great im doing the same thing can you list the parts you needed for the complete conversion becasue im getting aftermarket parts and want to make sure i have everything i need thanks chas
My old site is gone, so here are the only two left. One shows the extension for the IAT sensor, the other is an overall shot. Just remove the center brace from the bottom of the airbox and filter spacer, then shave the lower airbox until it bolts down and the hood shuts.

Cool....I got it yesterday. I ended up having to lengthen the MAF sensor wires and left the IAT alone.
go figure.
You were right though...noticeable throttle response difference...translates into a nice SOTP feel.
