Firebird Tail Light Center

I'm not sure if there is anybody else that has done this, attempted to do this, or thought about doing this... but the idea is to cut out the bird on the tail light center piece and fill it with red(DOT) plastic or epoxy; then, mount lights behind it and re-install it, with the lights wired to the brake lights(on when parking- or headlights are turned on and get brighter when brakes are applied). The reason I'm posting this is to see if someone has done this or knows of anybody who has done this. The project is already started and should be finished very soon. I've been thinking about doing it for a long time now and I can't wait to see what it turns out looking like It's gonna be great if all goes well. If anybody has any info, please share.

If all goes well as I am hoping, the thought shall become reality. I just don't understand why there is no aftermarket company doing this.... this could be a moneymaker... Anyway, don't let me response discourage anybody else from responding to my original post

In fact, some dude filled it with multi-colored fiber optic wiring I think. It may be The Rascal. I forgot but the guy is floating around here or on sounddomain.com.

That looks pretty damn nice. Mine will look better (If all goes well of course). My idea is a bit simpler, but still requires a steady hand and time. I say give me a week and it should be all set I'm ordered honeycomb tail lights for my 95 T/A and it is gonna look soooo damn sweet Might be putting a little bit of glitter in the epoxy when mixing time comes around. The samples with glitter look pretty damn sweet. I'll take a pic of the sample with my cell and post it sometime tonight or tomorrow if I can. The fiber-optic idea is great though, don't get me wrong. But just imagine the Flaming Chicken decal replaced with a brake light (dare I say..... 4TH brake light). Anyway, I'm going to install those tail lights right quick. I will definately post several pics of the center piece when it is finished. Check out www.cardomain.com/id/transamdude95 if you want to see some more pics of my T/A and some other pics.

hey, I Did an AutoCAD dwg of the firebird when I was planning to do this, I did exactly like the one on the nose of the 98+ cars, I put a dotted hatch pattern on it that you can use to drill holes equally spaced. I even did the Trans Am Text. if you want me to send you a jpeg you can use as a template just shoot me an email.

Anybody think it would look cool with an orange bulb behind it? Or you think just red?

The rarest of colors for F-bodies! Purple!

I guess trial and error would be best to decide which color would be best.... I'll stick with white bulbs and maybe try orange.
