Door Tech
Door Tech
I noticed that the part where the metal from the inside of my passenger side door meets the outside of the door, on the part you can see when you look at the door straight on with the door open, has came apart. So now my door kind of sticks out a little at the top before the glass when I shut it. Only I would notice it! It looks like some kind of sticky striping was used to hold it together before, does anyone know of something good to put these two piecs of metal together so that it will stay? I have no idea why this happened on that door, I hardly open it but maybe once every two weeks!
Maybe some pics would help if you have a digital camera handy...but if you just want to know something to stick the metal back together, I would use the same stuff as what was on there before...you said it seemed like some sticky striping, so try some double sided sticky tape...hopefully that'll get you started anyways...
this is a known issue with the 93-95 f-bods. starting in 96 i believe, they changed the adhesive used.
1st, its not metal. its all composite body panels. that strip was the adhesive to hold them together and over time it can come apart. best fix i have found is to clean out the gap as well as you can, roll the window down, mix up some JB weld, fill er up, clamp it, let it dry 12hrs at a decent temp.
i think the dealers can also do this and they have a special adhesive but usual charge is 50 to $100.
