Those plastic bushings hold the rods in the mounting holes so they don't back out. If your bushings are broken, then it's a good possibility that they are the reason your handles are jiggling. The good news is that they're pretty inexpensive and fairly easy to replace.

i know the rod fell out at one point and i had it for awhile but i think its long gone..someone said the only real way to fix the jiggling door handle is with a new one?
