Another Tint Question
Another Tint Question
So I finally found a place thats been around awhile 20+ years
I called the guy and got a quote for $139 for 15% tint
but then he said it doesn't come with a warranty because its technically illegal.
Other places I asked come with lifetime warranties but are a little shady
This guy is using llumar (sp?) I think he said, and assured me that it wouldnt' turn purple or bubble, and that itd last for 10 years.
Give me your input.

Re: Another Tint Question
i paid 125 for all 3 windows, but i got hooked up. one piece rear, but theres a piece of vinyl covering the dotted part on the top of the rear glass. no warrenty for the same reasons, but they told me that a majority of the time when it turns purple or bubbles its because the windows are cleaned with windex, or any other glass cleaner. only use soapy water and they should stay black.
Re: Another Tint Question
I have an appointment wednesday to have my sides done. The guy said he would do it for $50 + tax, which seems like a good deal to me. I was recommended to this place by a handful of people, too. My hatch was already done by the previous owner, so that saves me some cash.
Re: Another Tint Question
So if a shady shop out of a trailer on the side of the road says they will do 15% for $139 WITH a lifetime warranty...should I believe it...
If its a crappy job they have to just keep fixing it...

Re: Another Tint Question
How good is a lifetime warranty if it's a shady place? I can see it turning purple, you bring it in for replacement under their lifetime warranty, he says: "Oh, you must've used Windex, you voided the warranty, don't let the door hit you in the *** on the way out!"
There's a used car place here in town that specializes in sports cars, imports, and such. They are known for being crooks, but offer a 30 day money back guarantee and a 5 year, 60,000 mile warranty. Sounds like a good deal, right, even though they're "shady"? A guy on a local board bought a LS1 T/A from there and paid a little more than he should, but figured it was a good deal with the warranty and everything. Once he starts driving it, he notices the syncros are crunchy and getting worse. He takes it back, they say "Wait until the warranty paperwork is done, then we'll fix it under warranty". He waits another couple weeks, brings it in, they tell him warranty is denied because they saw him abusing it, burning out, etc. None of which he actually did, and they have no proof, but he's screwed anyway. Basically he's S.O.L., now owns a LS1 T/A with a bad trans that he paid too much for, and it has no warranty and he has no recourse.
Sometimes it's better to go with a place that's been around and has good word-of-mouth reputation even if it's not as good of a deal as a "shady" place.

Re: Another Tint Question
Goes with the place thats be around 20+ years or keep looking for one thats been around and will give u a warrenty.
Its about $150-$200 around here for lifetime warrenty on all windows.
Their was a place that would even retint if you got ticket for it once per year, but i dont think their still around.

Re: Another Tint Question
definately better to get that done at a place with a good reputation like eveyrone else has said. As far as the llumar tint its high quality stuff, thats whats on my car and it has a lifetime warranty. Mine is only 30% but still for a lifetime warranty ill take my legal tint, + i like the fact that my windows are still shiny and not a dull black lol.
Re: Another Tint Question
i got mine done for $80 for only the side two..... i have the cover panels for my t-tops and my rear window which is the sportsback already came tinted.... real dark not sure wat % tho
