It's all a matter of opinion. Personally I like the sound of these cars in this order:
1-4.6l dohc mustang
2-4.6l sohc mustang
3-LT1
4-5.0 mustang
5-LS1
True duals on an LS1 helps, but still doesn't sound as good as a mustang IMHO. It's just a totally different engine. I love my LS1, but my 4.6l mustang definately sounded better.

The word "modular" is pretty much a synonym for similar. The 4.6, 5.4 and 6.8 are all modular motors because their architecture and design are more or less the same, just like the Gen. III smallblock V8s.

I love the sound of my Dad's 03 Cobra, it has Bassani Headers,X-Pipe and Cat Back with the 4'' tips and sounds amazing. I personally would take the sound of that car over any LS1/LT1 with a Y-pipe setup, but True Duals on a Camaro well thats a different story

I LOVE the 5.0 howl! It has a VERY distinctive sound. I like mine to have a sound of it's own, and that it does, but I have two exhaust ideas right now. I'll have to but another Camaro to experiment on...

true that guys, the stangs do sound better, but neverthe less, I'm a Z28 man all the way.........
And with the right mods....the Z28's can sound the same or even better !!

LS1s sound great in my opinion. Mustangs sound good too, not as good as LS1's, but still good. You LS1 guys want something to complain about? Try making a V6 sound good...............
