If you had an undercammed motor, it would pick up power be retarding the cam a few degrees right? besically delaying the intkae closing point, putting it where it would be with a bigger cam. This would aslo drop the dynamic compression ratio correct?

Retarding the cam will shift the powerband upward and reduce low end torque, while advancing the cam will bring the powerband lower.

Your right on what you said.

It's funny that a stock LS1 cam is retarded a few degrees stock and it has a very high LSA like 116-117.

The right cam IMHO will be straight up.

My 214/224 XE cam is ground (and installed) "straight up" and works well.
