is there an aftermarket block that lets you retain the LTx configuration? reverse cool and that will work with the T56 tranny?
I am intereted in having a 427CID engine that can use LTx style heads and intake for ease of many things.. anyone know?

The T56 part is easy. There is an interface kit that allows you to use the LT1 T56 with a Gen 1 block. Check with Spohn Performance, because Steve borrowed my spare T56 to help develop the kit, using his 3rd Gen as the engine side.
You can also get a "universal" T56 SFI-rated bellhousing from McLeod that allows you to bolt most versions of the T56, including the Viper version to most blocks. It will only work with the LS1 version of the F-Body T56, I believe.

Transmission is not the only problem what about ignition and computer. Race only I guess its an option but for street is it necessary, stock computer and opti is good for 600+ rwhp I don't see very many old school sbc making that much civilized power. I have personaly seen cars with GM perf parts options (LT4 heads hotcam headbolts gaskets wires) 6psi charger make 477 rwhp with stock block and bottom end. Drove like a stock car around town.
Would be nice to have an LT1 specific block that could be bored and clearanced without having to worry about hitting water. Maybe someone out there is listening.

They have been doing it since the late 50s early 60s.
The LT1 was just the first production SBC with it

John,

You're looking at the wrong SBC's with a blower that's easy! The challenge is a NA version, that's also doable.
