Template for a 3.750 stroke clearance
Template for a 3.750 stroke clearance
Does anyone have/make a lower end "template" to clearance the lower end of an LT1 for a 3.750 stroke crank to swing? I have cap screw rods. I want to get around all the mocking up and grinding deal. Not all of us have access to a CNC machine.

Every brand of crank and rod combo is a little different. I don't think a template would work.
CNC would rarely be used just to clearance a block unless it was machining the whole bock, and in the case of GMPP cnc Bowtie blocks, you still need to check/clearance them the old fashioned way.
No free (or cheap) lunch. Mock it up...grind it out.
It's a dirty job, but someone's got to do it (like spellchecking).

Most 3.75" combos experience interference at the bottom of the bores. With a high lift cam, you may get a little interference from the head of the rod bolt/cam. I suggest grinding the head of the bolt, not the cam
. Sometimes a little clearancing of the pan rails is needed. A couple of hours with a die grinder will do the trick. Good job to do while having a beer, it's not too technical and it's hard to screw anything up. No biggy if you take a little too much. Not like head porting (don't ask me how I know).
Like the old guy said, mock it up and grind away at the point where parts make contact.
