Just something I found on the web from a Ford forum. Thery were not stainless but it gives you an idea of the quality.

CAT CRAP

Hi Rick, I had a set of cat roller rockers from cat once.......once. They were a set of aluminium rollers they looked just like a set from Harland sharp. Anyways they were on my SBF with a pretty good lift cam .565 to be exact, I was driving to work and a couple of them let go. That's not a noise you want to hear coming from under your hood! What ended up happening is I BENT two of the rockers! The bearings had locked up and puked out all the rollers and two "C" clips into my motor and then proceeded to bend themselves all up.... OK maybe the bearings weren't getting good oil? possibly but the Pro-Magnum's I replaced them with have been fine for the last two years! Try finding all of thoese needle bearings in your oilpan, it's a really good thing Moroso's pickup screens are made with a fine mesh! That could have been realy ugly. Life lesson learned.... It just dosen't pay to buy cheap parts!

Ever use Manton? Terry builds pushrods for alot of fast guys... Mike Moran, Gene Fulton, Leonard... it's a long list. Best thing about Terry, besides the fact that he builds the strongest pushrods in the industry, is that he's super quick on custom lengths. Not to mention, very personable and a good all round business man. Give him a call sometime.

The engine I'm putting together is going to be built around the new AFR head. This will be a 422 ci stroker and we're shooting for a very streetable 500rwhp..... we'll seeeeeee!

With a 422 on an ls1 i dont see it difficult to hit 550rwhp STREETABLE... specially with well ported heads...

Cartek.net are running 10s with h/c packages on pump gas... I still have to really BE THERE And see it, but for the looks of it... They are doing it...

they expect 500rwhp n/a with a 346 pretty soon... Now... the gain from 346 to 427 is only 60-70HP, but they claim that is a lot easier to drive hard the car because it has 125 lbs/ft of torque LESS than the 427 and you can punch it with more manners...

Im on the market for some pushrods.. I do not wish to spend an arm and a leg but I do want a quality peice...

Are chrome moly any good?

I have used both Comp and Manley. Good choice at a moderate price point. The "Magnum" line from Comp is probably sufficient for 99.99% of us. Their "Hi-Tech" line is a step up but likely overkill. Manley's 4130 are comparable to the Magnums and they also have a high-end line.

I do not think I can link the suppier as I am not sure they are a board sponser. I got there info from "Fastest street car" monthly mag. I tracked them down on e-bay to get the good price. I just called and said send me a set for that price and they ask where to send them

Now that they are in hand I can say the quality 'Appears' as good as the comp and Crower stainless stuff I had. The guys I got them from said they are good to about .900 lift and or 750+ PSI open.

Fit my bill for half the cost so I jumped

Yeah, I dunno about that claim of bent arms. Granted it was aluminum, not the high-strength stainless steel versions, but even then I can only think of 2 good reasons for something like that:
a) incredible spring pressures and a missed shift
or b) improper installation/application.

Here's a quote from the Harlan Sharp site (they only make aluminum rockers so if anyone would know about this they would):
What if they break?
Typically, rocker arm breakage is due to another problem. However, any breakage that is due to manufacturing defects and not abuse will be replaced or repaired. This excludes any rocker arms modified from their original state.

Well now that I got pie on my face I feel like a heel for posting a negetive responce about CAT rockers. One of my crane golds spit the bearing out with only 14,000 miles on them, 10k with the hot cam. Guess AL. stud rockers are kinda wimpy so Im glad I stepped up to the stainless comps. Actually I think the SS comps were cheaper than the AL. SA 1.6 crane golds. I payed $339 for the comps and maybe $399 for the cranes?

So if I'm running 620 pounds of open pressure, the Comp Hi-Techs are the way to go? Also, will the Pro Magnums clear 1.55-inch valvesprings?
