Simpler Cam Design...

I was "surfing" early in this morning looking at the engineering aspects of cam design and came across several good sites. This site seemed to explain the cam design simply with graphic-friendly representations. A bud and myself changed some valve stem seals on a '94 Toyota Tercel, and the fulcrum eccentric design was both simple and effective. I was wondering if the "modern" cam design on LT1 and LS1 engines can be improved on. The Toyota design really impressed me a lot. Very simple...very effective with few moving parts...
