#'s on LT1&4 intakes
#'s on LT1&4 intakes
Posted a question in the LT1 tech but figured I'd give this forum a try too.

Basically I want to know if anybody knows the powerband range of the two intakes&max RPM. Or is there any difference between the two other than the LT4 has raised ports and must be matched?

Re: #'s on LT1&4 intakes
im sure the higher port roof of the lt4 helps it make more power at the higher rpms, but i havent seen anyone do an rpm test.
heres a flow test that SAR2K did that shows how the intake is limiting the heads.
"I just tested this on an LT4 intake last week. I used a factory LT4 head that I'm about 90% done with for 95Bird. On the head I've worked the intake side to 205cc and it flows 275 @ .600
With the unported intake bolted up to the head on the bench it flowed 230.5 @ .600
After fully porting the intake (includes raising the runner) the combo flowed 251.8 @ .600
Peak gain 21.8 cfm.

the more i read, the more it seems i should ditch the lt4 intake and go with a single plane converted to EFI.
not to hijack, but do you advanced guys think it would be possible to use a singleplane intake with elbow on top facing forward (someone posted a link awhile back to some nice elbows that were pretty cheap), and an ls1 style round TB? that would cut down on the high cost of the 4bbl alot.

Just my thought...
But yes either route should be great.
