Reading Material for Engine Design
Reading Material for Engine Design
**Mods, please move if in wrong forum**
So, I am a few years out of college and always enjoyed learning new stuff. I have a degree in double E, but have a good grasp of mechanics. I look forward to future project cars and would love to learn as much as possible about building engines. Can anyone recommend any good articles or books on anything to do with engine design? Anything from block, to heads, to cam and everything in between. I get a little jealous always hearing people talk about cam specs and what goes with what setup. I have no clue how to figure out what cams go with what. And everything else intrigues me. Please point me in the right direction.
Thanks!

There is a sticky on books to read but it's in another forum, which must remain nameless.
Try Googling "books 101" engine
If you are serious, spend some time learning the basics, but in depth. The last book on the list is a good start. Plan to spend LOTS of time with it.

Corvette Fuel Injection and Electronic Engine Management - Focuses more on EFI theory and the systems/sensors. It covers very little tuning, but still is a great reference source for tuning beginners. Includes fairly up-to-date information for TBI, TPI, LT1/4 and LS1/6 (2001) information. A must read for the LS/6 owner.
How to Tune and Modify Engine Management Systems - Concentrates on EFI tuning, though is more focused on imports. It's a good book that goes into details why certain tables and parameters are adjusted.
