Moroso Blueprinted Oil Pumps?

I am looking for a oil pump for my LT4 383 solid roller motor. Has anyone used this pump? I am thinking about using it. What pressure spring would you use? Looking for some advice.

Call Clay Smith Cams in Fullerton,Ca. and have them build you a pump. They can build what you need, with pickup installed to suit your engine for around $110.00. You don't even have to guess what spring!!!! If your engine ain't worth that,I don't know what to tell you. Better have all the clearances, oil pan type, engine use, ect. when you call.

Re: Moroso Blueprinted Oil Pumps?

I've used the Moroso pump in 4 engine builds now and it's a really nice pump. One unique thing here is that Moroso uses their own castings and machines, or casts for the standard race pumps, the anti cav and feed grooves. They also use some type of oil-shedding coating on the inside. So it's not just a blueprinted stock pump with a little debur time.

Being **** costs me nothing more than time, so I always pull any pump apart and check the gears for burs, going over the edges with a fine stone just to be sure. All 4 of the Moroso pumps I've seen were good, no burs. The clearances were also spot on with what I'd shoot for if I were blueprinting. IMO, they're a value in comparison to a custom job on a stock pump with a few improvements.

What I have also noted, and mentioned here B4, is some aftermarket pumps, including the Moroso, assemble their pumps, with gears machined with more precision, using tighter clearances and/or tolerances.

FWIW, I've got a Moroso blueprinted pump in my engine. Seemed to work just fine.

Re: Moroso Blueprinted Oil Pumps?

every motor I've built or been part of has been with a moroso bluprinted pump. the oil psi guage never once flinched in my times of seeing or driving the car. i've never built or been part of an lt1, but when i am i will use a moroso blueprinted pump.
Use standard volume pumps with stock pans. and yes, the stock pan and stock volume pump will suite your 383 unless you plan on running 24 hours of daytona.

Re: Moroso Blueprinted Oil Pumps?

wont the ant-cav grooves on the moroso pumps reduce oil pressure at low rpm? this is an important issue with street cars.
