LS1 new technology?

I always thought the LS1 heads where something that was taken out of the race page from the last 10-20yrs. Or am I wrong on this. Also, how does variable valve technology work?

Isnt there someone on here that is a GM enginer? I had a argument with a friend about the first question and am looking for someone more into the racing front, or from GM, to respond.

Thanks
Jeremy

Try a "search".... both LS1 head technology and variable valve timing have been discussed in previous threads.

The exhaust ports on the LS1/6 heads are only second to those of an SB 2.2 head. So...I guess this should help you out to a certain extent.

Dude, I love those quotes. How true on both.

Thanks man...the second sig quote is from a buddy of mine at a cruise in @ K&G Speed up close to Philly PA. There was a widebody Mk IV or V? there and its apparently going to be featured in 2Fast 2Furious anyways, big modified T-76, N2O 6 point cage, traps @ 135+ only running mid 10s, lol, gotta love the IRS on the Dyno queens. Not only that...when the boy did a burnout in the parking lot, he shifted through 3 gears, only to have the right rear literally stop on every shift and the start again, ouch that couldn't have been good, at least not in my mind.

Edit: Yeah, funny how he said he was going to be putting a 9" with a 4 link in there soon. On another note, this kid wanted to talk to Darkblue TA and I about how the best Gen III head tuner is "Headgames" or some **** like that. Of course he (Darkblue TA) knows of Andy Jensen (sp) in PA and of his motor working, and that's where he plans on getting some porting done. For those of you who don't know, Andy Jensen has a 63 full tube car quick 8 unlimited street car. Running a 468 cube splayed vavle small block, 3 or 4 speed lenco behind it, and 2 stage of Nitrous from NOS. He just recently started to touch the second stage of N20 and has gone as quick as 6.50s. I haven't been able to see him run this year yet, but I can't wait to see his car again. Hardly anyone on the east coast can touch him as far as Quick 8 unlimited is concerned. Gotta love the guys that know some stuff but don't know its all...
