Aljar. The biggest things besides what you covered in the last post is the Gear placement. If the gear is not running pretty much dead center of the gear it self(I.E. cheching the pattern like the MSD directions say) you will start eating up gears and cams pretty fast

I lost my first bronze gear in about two weeks That was along time ago and now I check EVERY one and ALWAYS try to use a slip collar. sure slip collar makes life SO much easier

Jeff did not get to start on it this weekend sorry. the intake IS off to the welder hopefully for the last time

An update since many of you asked. Tore the motor apart b/c it bent some valves, well lots of valves. Long story.

Anyways, the distributor can be removed with the engine in the car, and without dropping any of the front suspension down. You will need to remove the intake at the same time however as you must slide it forward, and you pull up on the distributor.

So do you think it the hole was a little bigger, we have some room to play, it would come out with out taking the intake off?

how could the hole be bigger, it would leak oil. maybe make an adapter to bolt to the intake, than the dist. would bolt to the adapter plate? that would work with a slip collar distr.

I cant see being able to get it out without totally pulling the intake, wihtout a HUGE hole (plate may work, good idea. I would do it in 2 parts, with semi circle in each half. That way it wouldnt be in the way when removing the distributor.) You need to get it at a pretty good angle so that it doesnt hit the wiper cowl.

Ellis...if i may ask. Why would you ever pull the distributor out at someplace like the track? I can only see removing it if a.) eats the gear b.) pulling cam or intake

If its misfiring they sell new caps and rotors which could easily be done on car on the fly.
