High volume oil pump NEED HELP??

ok i am builing a 383 stroker i have the m-55hv high volume oil pump the high volume pick up screen 55-s1 and steel shaft on a stock bottom oil pan.i have the scat non forged 383 crank i will not rev over 7100. My machine shop said to use the hv they never had a problem with them. I have been reading on here that they can suck air due to bad lt1 oil pan designis this true? it has the pink spring in the pump now that makes 70 psi that is the high pressure spring it also came with a stock spring replacment.

first should i send the pump back and get a oem oil pump??

second should i keep the pink spring in or use the stock spring???

third is the high volume pick up suck air or help out in any way??

and finally what does high volume mean i thought that the stock pump was a high volume i know that the melling m-55hv has a pick up of 5/8" and the M155HV has the 3/4" i wonder what the stock pick up volume is

thanks for any help i get i am really confused

Keep the pump, tac weld an extened pickup to your existing
unit. There are several MFG's of pick-up's including Moroso
which I have.

If you're worried about sucking air, install an oil pan with a sump baffle. It will retain the oil in the pick-up area instead of splashing
or shifting back into the crankcase.
