hi-pressure z-28/lt-1 oil pump

I need to get a new oil pump for my new stroker and I've seen the stock pump with the white bypass spring is the way to go for a stock oilpan. But since I need a new pump I was wondering if the GMPP PN 12555884 hi-pressure z-28/lt-1 oil pump already includes the white spring.

At the gmgoodwrench.com website they this about the white spring (PN 3848911):

"Used in high-performance oil pump P/N 3848907. Minimum recommended oil pressure for off-highway use is 65 psi at engine operating speed."

However I cannot find P/N 3848907.

Any clarificaton?

Thanks....

Or should I just go with the Moroso anti-cav pump I saw in another thread? I assume the stock pickup will work with it.... Also, what about the bypass spring? Is it comparable to the "white" spring? If not, do I get the white spring or shim the one it comes with? Where does one get these shims?

Thanks,
Joe

Canton makes good oil pump/pickup parts for LT1s. They are designed with the the higher volume/pressure that a stroker motor will produce.

You can check them out in the Lower Engine section of www.ls1speed.com

I bought the Canton pump and pickup to use on my 396, but ended up going with a blueprinted Moroso pump (PN 22112) and the Canton pickup (for my Canton pan) instead at the recommendation of the engine builder.

The #907 pump may not be available anymore, haven't checked lately. That pump was equipped with a 5/8" tube as were early LT1s, which is ok, it's just so that you know this goin' in. If in doubt about the #911 spring, get one and compare to the spring in whatever pump you decide on. It will cost you all of 2-3 bucks.

I have found that aftemarket pumps/gears to have better quality machining that oem pump/gears. Again, not a major factor, just FFT.
