cam base size ?

>I believe I asked this before , but can't find it ???
Any who - what makes you have to go to a smaller cam base circle ?
Would the connecting rods dictate the size (cam base circle) that is used ?
I went with the Oliver Billet I beam 5.850" rods as opposed to the Callies 5.850" H beam rods .

To be sure there is no interference problem, you need to verify it by test fitting, or know someone with the same combo and no problem. That said, if it's a 3.75" stroke (383) you shouldn't have a problem as there are others running Olivers in a 383. Can't say I specifically recall seeing a 396 with them. The rod length shouldn't matter, since it's the big end that's the potential problem.

just as a side note, it throws off some aspects of your valvetrain geometry- namely pushrod length. You will need longer rods to compensate for the smaller base circle.
