Advancing the cam to 5-6 dgrees

I am going to be installing a CC305 cam. In an 1995 LT1. I was wondering if I advanced the cam from the stock 4 degrees to 6 degrees would that give me more bottom end torque.

Or would it just kill the upper end and do little for the lower end torque.

I realize there would be other issues with the igntion and the injector timing.

If those were not problems what could I expect?

Thanks

I doubt you would notice much difference, assuming you mean two additional degrees of advance beyond the four already ground into the cam. If you mean six MORE degrees, for a total of ten degrees of advance, I think it would not like that at all.

Re: Advancing the cam to 5-6 dgrees

Thanks for the info guys.

I was talking about 2 degrees beyond what was ground into the cam.

I was guessing that the MFG might have already worked out the best compromise on the CC305 at 4 degrees advanced.

I was thinking about this because of the MSD billet LT1 dist. It will not be out untill at least FEB. It has the +/- 5 degree adjustment so you could correct the dist for a 2 degree cam timing change.

I am concerned that I will give up too much low end, get used to the engine lugging so well.

But the cam swap will need to be before Feb so I can't do what I wanted easily. Best leave it alone.

Thanks
