Question Re: 500 cube LS motor

Jimbo,

You buying an LS6 or building something? From the jist of what I can gather, you're still trying to decide??

LS7 with a cam, and possibly a modified Harrop "Hurricane" intake...

Bret you can always check it out at the Scoggin Dickey booth at the PRI show. I am sure an engine builder like yourself is attending the event. Maybe I will bump into you tomorrow. Look for my crowd wearing the J&J shirts

Re: 500 cube LS motor

Harrop's intake system is a work of art to say the least. I'm sure documented dyno gains will be significant. I remember asking that question a couple months back inregards to having eight throttle bodies adopted to our LT1. It's clearly the standard now for most of the exotics to have a throttle body per cylinder set up.

Does anyone know of an aftermarket producing an intake similiar to Harrops but for the Mustang community. They have so many intake at their disposal. Anyone......?

LS7 huh? I like it!

Wow, that sure is purty Jim.

Reminds of the setup Chuck R. had on his 434. Thing idled great for having such a beast of a cam.... throttle and acceleration was very linear too.

I was looking at a setup from Kinsler that is very similar and may go that route in the future. Definitely turns alot of heads.

Good luck!

Re: 500 cube LS motor

I saw both of those in person at SEMA. I gotta tell ya its intresting. The thought of a 500cid small block LSX engine really got my intrest at the show. Its kind of a way to get back to the no replacement for displacement. I belive that world block will support more that 500cubes. There is a ton of room in that block for more stroke. The 6 bolt per cyl is also going to make it possible for some serious power adders.

But in the end for me, I gotta say if I just want to go fast I can find you 20 ways to go just as fast with a lot less money. I'm curious to see how many people buy it. With a tall deck you have opened up a world of custom parts. Headers, intakes, ect... you cant just buy off the shelf parts any more. But when you blow that kind of money on a 500cid small block I guess a set of custom headers is a drop in the bucket...

I haven't even considered taking the car to the track yet until I get a few bugs ironed out but it should be real quick. It's more drivable than the 383 but then again, that engine wasn't too radical. This one's kinda like the 06' Z06... but with serious 'roid rage.

230+ BMEP is impressive.... much over that and I would wonder what his deal was as well.

FWIW the 500 cube LS motor was in the Wiseco booth. $12K for the bottom end alone. Nice parts in it though.... They are looking at having Jud from SAM do a top end for it.

The 500 cube Sonny Motor that Alan had took at lot more work than this LS deal from what they said.

Either way 500 cubes from a small block anything is impressive.

To add, the World Block and heads are done but even the first examples are not machined so i wouldn't expect them till about the middle of the year at the earliest.
