"Looks like 1" head spacers and new sleves.. curious to see the specs, 4.5" stroke with a 4.2" bore"
Wonder if Mindgame will chime in and tell us if his 500 cube SBC had spacer plates on it? I still dont see how you can change the bore centers without a head like a SB2 head or a billet head.
My real question is why make a 500 cube small block? Yes it's cool and you can learn a lot from it, but still.

Re: 500 cube LS motor
Hmmm. I wonder if they've considered doing a packaged stroker with the flexplate and tough sleeves (with the stock bore). How hard would that be compared to a stroker kit?
edit: I found this
http://www.erlperformance.com/techbr...eck%20II_1.pdf
and it seems to require a bit of machine work. Their's sits inside the block a bit, while I was thinking it just bolted on. That's too bad, but it is cool to see this done (i didn't know they did spacers on blocks, i just thought they did them on carbs).

Re: 500 cube LS motor
World has already introduced their Gen3/4 blocks and heads.
The block comes with either 3.990 or 4.115" bore size and 9.240 or 9.800" deck heights.

The standard 15 degree heads are available with 200cc or 220cc port volumes and 64 or 72cc chamber volumes.

The LS7 style 12 degree heads have a 255cc port volume and either 64 or 72 cc chambers.

Brett my guy at SEMA got me info on them and they will have two engines assembled at PRI. They are only going to sell complete 500CI short blocks in the begining
I talked to them for a bit last week about be a dealer

My 500 was built around the splayed valve GM head. Don't know if you've ever seen one of these as a raw casting but it's pretty much just a lump of aluminum shaped like a cylinder head when you get it. You have a lot of liberty to move things around... weld a little here and a little there to get what you really want. Sonny moved just about everything... not just the spark plug locations.

How else could one answer this without another question...... Why ask why?

If money really wasn't a concern and you wanted to build an engine that was still relatively lightweight in comparison to a BBC but with BBC-like hp and tq, then why not build a big small block?
If I offered anyone here an aluminum blocked 450+ cid small block that could realistically make close to 800 hp on pump gas with fuel injection.... how many of them wouldn't want it?
How many of them would rather stuff a BBC into their daily driver?
How many of those would want to work an a 4th gen with a BBC between the shock towers?
As for the 500 ci LSx engine... I like the idea. I'd forget the LS1X head though.... that head is way too small and the LS7X would need a bit of work to feed a 500 ci engine to anything close to potential.

I've heard from a few guys that the GM splayed valve head is a SOB. Makes you wonder if you could do something like this with a Mopar and a W9 RP head?

All depends on the budget, I like working on "cool" stuff thats not exactly cheap as well.
You get the new motor on the dyno yet?

777/651 was the best we could do Bret.
Couldn't quite get into the 240 psi BMEP range like that guy over on the Corvette board (God might even have trouble with that one) but I'm real happy with it anyways.
I haven't even considered taking the car to the track yet until I get a few bugs ironed out but it should be real quick. It's more drivable than the 383 but then again, that engine wasn't too radical. This one's kinda like the 06' Z06... but with serious 'roid rage.
