12562317 heads

I tried posting in general tech LSX, so i'm gonna try here. i found a good deal on some stock heads, casting 12562317. i've read up and it says they're from a 6.0L '01+ engine. the chambers are 71cc instead of the 66.7cc on my current heads. I was wanting to buy them and and maybe build them up in my spare time.
So my question is, first of all, i need to know if it will fit alright on my camaro!

Then my other question is will it be worth the buildup horsepower wise?

THEN if all is good, what are your recommendations for a build-up?
as far as the rest of the motor, i plan on keeping it stock stroke and bore. i may replace some of the bottom end, but all will remain stock specs. i need advice in what to do to the heads, porting, polishing, which valves flow best and take the harshest beating. any ideas for what cam specs to use if these heads work out?
i'm still very much learning, so thanks for the help!

Re: 12562317 heads

They'll fit, but you're going to lose too much CR if you aren't building a forced induction setup.

From the Chris Endres book "Chevy LS1/LS6 Performance":
2001+ LQ4 6.0-Liter Truck
Material: Aluminum
Part Number: 12562317
Comb Chamber Volume: 71.06cc
Compression Ratio: 9.4:1
Intake Port Vol: 210cc
Exhaust Port Vol: 75cc
Intake Valve Dia: 2.00-inches
Exhaust Valve Dia: 1.55-inches

What you need to know: The LQ4 heads are found on the low-performance versions of the 6.0-liter truck engine. They offer a larger combustion chamber that lowers compression ratio, making them perfect for forced induction application...... Swapping on unmodified LQ4 heads drops the compression ratio of a 5.7-liter LS1 engine to approximately 9:1. This is the workhorse head for street/strip turbo and blower cars.
You might want to pick up a copy of the book. It has a lot of info on LS1 buildups.
