Hell I've never been taken by a 4 banger and yes I've munched on a few Talon TSI's and other 4 cylinder stuff. Once the mods start though the bets are off. Its easy to see how stoplight to stoplight a stock L98 can take a stock LT1, but real racing is done on a timed track of 1/8th or more where the LT1 has time to run down the L98. A lightly modded L98 should be capable of taking a stock LT1. As to which I prefer I like my 3rd gen but I'd love to and will eventually own a 4th gen. I guess it depends on what I find as to which power plant LT1 or LS1 but I love them both and I will keep the 3rd gen.

On the whole L98 vs LT1 thing, it really boils down to 3 key factors:

1. Driver. Face it, not all of us are Evan Smith.

2. Condition of vehicle. Not every car is in perfect condition, some have been ragged to **** and back. Anyone could take a ragged to hell POS.

3. Original equipment. A well equipped L98(or even G92 LB9) has a shot at taking out an LT1, but it also has to do with what kind of LT1. An A4 2.73 car is slow, put one of these up against an L98 A4 3.23 car and it's a tossup. It comes down to race length, and the other 2 conditions.

Now, take a well drivin 97 1LE M6 Z28, no power anything, and a great driver and race an A4 2.73 L98 with a 16 year old newbie who can't drive, and it's pretty cut and dry. Now reverse that, an A4 2.73 94 Z28 vs a 3.23 G92/1LE L98 91-92, or even a G92/1LE 91-92 LB9 5 speed, with a killer driver, and the results change. It really boils down to these three factors, stock for stock. Adding mods just modifies these, that's all. These are the three major factors in determining the winner.

Most I know are quite respectful, actually. It tends to be the ignorant ones that are like that, and I know there are many 4.6's that have their nose in the air to the 5.0's. Again, it's usually the ignorant ones...

That's not really the case with the people I've run with. Any gen is really accepted. I guess its an appreciation of what each one is capable of.

I've had two 3rd gens(84 Z28 HO 5spd and 89 TTA) and one 4th gen(96 WS6 6spd). Which do I like the best? Toss up, each has there strong points and weak points. The WS6 was probably the best all around, everyday, quality built car. Followed closely by the TA. The camaro was a brutal riding car but extremely fun. They all handled about the same but the camaro lagged behind because of the 15" wheels.

Could go on but the 3rd and 4th are so closely related, its just a matter of styling that really sets them apart. From the firewall back, they are the same car.

if you put it in thirdgen.org rpo decoder, it says like "5.7 performance package" or something along those lines

I must appologize. That was not the complete list of RPO codes that I listed before. I will not list the remaining codes, but according to the list in the rear compartment, my car lists the G92 and the B2L. Could I get some clarification on what exectly was the G92 and the B2L beyond what the RPO decoder says?

What gears, cams, ect...?

Definitely yes. My son is the misguided prodigal who chose the Mustang over the F-body, he has the 95 GT and will swear the 5.0 is tops and stoplight to stoplight he is probably right. It's a known fact the 4.6 needs a lot of RPM for power.

I have driven several 5.0s before. I must say I kind of like their response.
But I would in no way drive a 94 or newer. They are just too friggin ugly for me.
Ill take a 93 Cobra. After that, a 91 or 92 GT (gata love the two tone).
