And where does it go?
I have some major window-positioning problems... Im sure it goes somewhere important.

never seen anything like that in my doors. if your having window problems check the rollers and little brush things on the top and make sure there holding the window out tight to the seal.

 

Yea, they hold the window up very tight to the seals (went out and got some new bolts as well, made it good and tight). It still wobbles at about half-way down.

Is this little roller in that track supposed to stay inside of it? It comes out very easily.

 

if you didnt gobble so much goo youd know to let a professional handle it . once more do i need to tell you not to work on your car cause you have no clue what your doing.

 

Allright lord i think thats enough. As much as that last post got messed up you cant get on this guys case at every opportunity. I give him SoMe credit for at least having the ambition to work on cars man i dont know **** about cars but i still do my best. This board is primarily for getting help when you cant figure it out your self so why dont we see if we can give this guy a hand? Id help but i dunno wtf that is nor have i ever taken apart my door and seen what was inside....you should invest in a helm inc manual if you dont have one youd be able to see in a good diagram everything that should be in there.

 

Now I haven't been on the board for a few days so I don't know what the beef is or what "that last post" was all about, but that was just a flat-out immature and unintelligent statement by lordmetalz28. There's no call for anything like that on a board like this. We're supposed to be here to help each other, not call names and throw flames. If any one here needs professional help, I definitely think it's "lord". And I don't mean a mechanic either.


As for the question....I can't identify that part either. I've had my doors apart a few times and it just doesn't look familiar to me. The roller is supposed to stay in the track though.....

It looks as if the roller only comes out when the window is at it's peak (either all the way up or all the way down).
If so, I suppose I will have to take the window out and reinsert?
Maybe if I ever get time I can take an actual good look at).

 

No one can identify it? Anyone ever taken their door panel off? It's one of the 3 plastic tabs on the top of the door panel that engage the sheetmetal - you know the PITA tabs to disengage...

 

What is the best way to take these panels off? It looks like the top portion slides outward?

With the window down you can push the top down, then grasp the top and squeeze/twist and pull at the same time, usually releasing the tabs. However, time takes its toll and the plastic becomes brittle and breaks on older cars. I busted a few good panels that way at the junkyard, so now I always use a dental pick. Makes life much easier.

EDIT: I haven't seen any new replacement door panels sold anywhere for these cars - just too many differences to be cost effective. You have a few choices:

1. Buy some good used panels.

2. Take the panels to an upholstery shop and have them build some new ones - $$$

3. Make them yourself. It's not that hard. Just use the old cardboard as a template for the new.
