weird problem with a surprising remedy
weird problem with a surprising remedy
Hey guys im sorry if this is a waste of time but I just wanted to tell u a problem that could possible help someone one day. I work at a garage and got an 89 chevy c1500 with a 305.. wont start.. Guy put on new plugs, wires, cap, rotor, and module if i remember correct. Checked for fuel. Plenty of fuel. checked for spark good spark. Pulled a plug. soaked in gas. put 8 new plugs in and got it running but rough while I checked timing.. Thats good also. ran for a little and shut down pulled a plug again. fouled again. Truck was flooding out.. I checked Iac, map sensor. good also.. fuel pressure good. Then I wondered what would cause it to go to flood mode. Since its not carbuarated, I thought these tbi motors had something to tell the computer it was cold out.. remembered it had something to do with the coolant. then it came to me.. Coolant temp. sensor tells motor if it is cold out. Put it on the scanner, no codes but checked the data screen.. coolant is at -30. That was tellin the comp to flood it. Put a new Coolant temp sensor in and 8 new plugs. Truck runs great. Now I just have to change the 2 leaky wheel cylindars
Sorry this is soo long.. Hope it can help someone
