Post tuning tip for 2.8L

so before rebuilding my tranny we adjusted the timing to about 5 degrees earlier than it was supposed to so i'd have some more low end torque to make up for my lazy tranny, and now that the tranny is rebuilt ive been driving it for about 3 weeks with it still timed that way, not remembering that we had done it. well, i was in the shop today and i went to put the car in drive and it kicked a little when it went into gear (automatic) and it reminded me. so we timed it from where it was (i think it was at 18 or 20 degrees before TDC) down to factory specs, which is 10 degrees BTDC while the car is in drive. well, i left the shop and drove home with the car tuned the way i would assume all of you with 2.8litre engines have them, and let me tell you something, i almost cried! the way that car took off the line couldnt even be called acceloration. just a gain in speed at best. absolutely no throttle response it felt like. anyway, i will, without a doubt, be changing the timing back to being extremely advanced because even at high rpms it ran better being out of tune. so my suggestion to all of you with 2.8litre v-6 engines is to set your timing to 18 degrees or so BTDC and i promise you, you WILL notice a difference. your idle wont be quite as smooth and mine sounded like the timing was off while idling (which is was) but let me tell you, the power difference is well worth it!
this morning on the way to work my car was straight rolling down the road and i was slamming on the gas skidding through turns and everything, having a good time, and now i cant even get up to speed before the next turn so i can do it. lol. anyway, just give it a shot and post what you think of the results

how so? the only thing i can see that would cause damage in the long run is the added stress on the driveline when you put the car in gear and it kicks with your foot on the brake. it really is a huge jump in torque

i think it would work for my 3.1 as well since i think it's just a stroked 2.8 if i remember correctly
i could use a little more get up and go before i get my z28

so any bad problems from the guys in the know? other than if it pings on the highway? (which you shouldnt set it so it can do that anyways)
