Stock dyno numbers are finally in....

1992 RS 305 TBI, 113K miles, stock dyno numbers.....
160 RWHP
227 RWTQ
I'm not really dissapointed for a 113K, 12 year old car with no mods.
I just got a loudmouth on it, and am gonna start some basics. What are the most cost effective mods to get out of the way.
Thanks
Steve

Go to www.thirdgen.org in their Tech Article section they've got the Ultimate TBI mods. I'd start there, most of them are free or real cheap.

That doesn't sound bad at all for a motor rated 170 HP (flywheel) from the factory! I also happen to currently have a 1992 305 TBI automatic, all stock, 197K miles in my stable of cars. Now that it's tuned up (but still stock) it feels like it's also got a smidge more power than the factory rating. Nothing to write home about, but if you figure a 15% loss through the drivetrain it should only be putting about 145 to the rear wheels. My calibrated butt tells me it's a bit more than that.

Thirdgen.org is also one of the places I would point you to for help getting power out of a TBI motor. I know a little about them, but others there know quite a bit more than I do. Carbs and TPI setups I know quite a bit about, but not so much TBI.

If you've got dyno numbers...i'm sure you've made a trip to a track.
Do you have any times from your car?

Yeah those are interesting numbers. What kind of dyno was this? Timeslips too! It'd be different to see what 160 roller stressing RWHP would do at the track.

THe dyno was on a DynoJet, above ground Dyno. It is an Auto, so that is why I am not dissappointed in the HP, and the TQ numbers were better than I thought.
No trips to the track. The last thing I want is to do something stupid at the track, in 50 degree weather, and have to spend money I don't need to on the car. Maybe when I get a little more into it, I'll get out there. I think I would be in the 16-17 second range
I got pics of my newbie at www.cardomain.com/id/saipena02
