Don't waste your money on Bosch spark plug. Your car is pretty much stock so just run the AC Delco plug they recommend at the parts store.

For a stock car, a spark plug is a spark plug.

Agreed. On a near-stock vehicle it won't make much difference as long as they're gapped correctly. Platinum tips plugs will usually last a bit longer, but don't waste your cash on 2-prong or 4-prong or split-prong or any of those other stupid "high-tech" designs. They'll do more harm than good.

Agreed- forget platinum. Autolite #24 is my go-to plug of choice for SBC street engines with stock cast iron heads. Cheap to the tune of $1.25 a plug, but good quality. It's a semi-shorty design that clears most headers if clearance is tight, yet it has a projected hex nut on it that can easily be turned by a box wrench or open end wrench if you can't fit a socket over a few of the plugs.

It uses a projected nose and is set up to take a gap of about .045- perfoect for a N/A engine running a stock or near-stock HEI factory ignition.

AC-Delco

Can't understand why anyone would put F@&d parts(autolite) in a Chevy! I reccommend AC rapidfires if must have something other than the stock plugs they work for me.

I don't understand why people assume that any part bought by Ford is no good. It's not like Ford is making the plugs, they just use them in their vehicles.....just like how GM doesn't make the AC Delco products. It's all outsourced and foreign-made these days anyway.

Autolite plugs are not crap. I wouldn't use them if they were. And I've used a LOT of them over the years. I don't give a damn who makes them. What works, works. Period.

Buy Champions or Delcos or whatever floats your boat. They will all work. The nice features of the Autolite #24 I posted. Other plugs may have their own set of nice features, but I have nothing bad to say about Autolite.

A plug's job is to carry the spark from the plug wire to the plug gap. That's about it. Pretty simple job. Regular old copper-electrode spark plugs have been around for about 100 years. Nothing really new under the sun when it comes to building one that does it's job.

Ford sold out their Autolite name years ago, so no, Autolite plugs are NOT made by Ford. Autolite makes very good plugs, IMHO better than Champion or AC, and they've been doing it for decades. Now I'm no Ford fan, I'd sure as hell never own a Focus or an Excursion or even a Mustang (unless it was a late-60's fastback) but I don't believe in assuming the value of a product based solely on it's name.

Then again, if closed-minded assumptions are keeping you from using good parts.....that just gives me one more advantage on race day. Keep up the good work!!

I don't think I'm closed minded for not useing Autolite plugs in my GM's ,I was tought by an old machanic to use AC in GM's,Autolite in fords ,and Mopar's and Champions in Waste baskets. Seems that they hold up better this way,for some reason, and that is my oppinion. I do use Autolites in my Dodge Power Wagon with great results, but could never get them to perform well in my GM's,sure they improve things over time and they may have an Autolite that works well with GM's now,but why change" if it aint broke". AC's are engineered for GM's,and Autolites are engineered for fords, and you can not change that, you can only change your plugs.

Just go with the standard delcos.

I was at Autozone a few weeks back... was standing in line waiting to be helped, and this guy comes FLYING into the parking lot in like a late 80s Maxima.

He comes inside, and somehow cuts in front of someone else in another line. He asks for 4 bosche 4 plats, and then checks out right there (im still standing to get help). He asks the dude as he hands over some cash "hey, how much horsepower does this car have stock?". The parts guy goes "I dunno." and looks down. Haha.

The maxima guy then goes "well, how much will it give me?". Parts guy: "Maybe a little, not sure."

The ricer guy RUNS out the door after his purchase of 4 plugs and jumps in his car. Starts it up. Revs it like nothing else (vroom, vroom VROOOOOM), and takes off (damn near hits oncoming traffic). Everyone in the store just laughs their butts off.

Its like this guy JUST heard about 4+ plats and got all excited about it.
