Costs about $100 or so.
Just need an extra ECM connector, Knock Sensor, ECM and Prom, and a MAP sensor (can't remember if there is a MAP sensor on the MAF cars or not).

I had Jonh Millican re-pin my harness for me since I wasn't too familiar with pulling the wires out of the ecm connectors.
Sweet, that's cheap! Would it even be worth it though? What's MAF's downfall? Going to be a Superram 383.

MAF has been said to be a restrictive flow problem. Some people have ported their MAF units but if you do so, the calibration might be off. In that case, you better be able to recalibrate the EPROM to make it work.

That said, there is no doubt in my mind that MAF responds to engine changes better than SD

With Speed Density, you can program for maximum power. With MAF, you have the limitation of the MAF sensor.
If you plan on tuning your car yourself, go SD, if not, then MAF responds better to mods without programming.

Ok, I think I'm going to stay MAF. I won't be doing my own tuning for ~2-3yrs and until then I'll just have someone burn me a chip. The kind that they burn it, then they burn it like 3 times to get it dead on. Or do I need a laptop to log the data for them? Oh well I'll just have it dyno tuned haha I wish.

From what you said Manny, it seems like it's not difficult to swap so I can even do it while the motor is in the car pretty simply.

Ya, to get the best tune, you'll need to data log the car and send the info to the tuner.

Swapping to SD is done with the motor in the car, there is no need to pull it out.

You'll probably want to pull the harness out of the car though so you are not lying on the pass side floorboard trying to re-pin the ecm connectors.

Fasterproms.com can burn it for you. Borrow their Diacom software and cable. Install program to laptop. Make the runs as specified and email files to them. They send you another chip. Do the same. Bu this time it should be on the money. Send data to them. If they tell you it is right on, send equipment and other chips back and that is that.
