Ignition upgrades

What would you guys recomend for ignition upgrades? Im told it will give me a less emissions, and a little bit better gas mileage and hp. Its for by 84Z which is basically stock except for 3"cat, flowmaster catback and open element. im kinda on a budget to so nothing to expensive Thanks.

Most guys will tell you its a waste of money to add an ignition box to a stock motor. And unless you are running it up to like 5-6k rpm alot, it really is.

A nice start though would be some good wires, plugs, a better tha stock coil, maybe MSD blaster or something similar, and if you can maybe a perf distributor. All those will help out alot.

I noticed a much smoother idle and quicker starts when I put a blaster coil, taylor wires, and a MSD6A on both of my vehicles (the truck 3 years ago and the camaro a few months ago)

Ok, decided to get new msd cap , msd rotor , blaster 2 coil , and Taylor Spiro-flow wires . These should be good right? I have a question about the blaster 2 coil though. Where do I put that? do I have to mount it somewhere? Also the plug wires are pre cut and everything. Should I go with them or universal? Thanks.

If the distributor is original, replace it. The bushings/bearings on the shaft wear and you get play in the shaft which can mess with timing.
84 = No computer and HEI style distributor
Look at this, it's a complete setup and you can beet the price for everything (if you have 200 to throw out there)

So since I have an 84 with no computer the blaster 2 coil wont work right. Will this work? I wish I could use 200+ to get that but I will have to wait.

you should have a HEI I think, not for sure. Someone else could cue in and help answer this.
I think this is what you need, if your coil is ontop of the distributor cap.
