Running rough

I have a 1989 Iroc 5.7 and it starts fine when cold, but one it runs a while it will not start without pushing the accelerator to the floor till it fires. One it starts it runs rough and sooty smoke come from the tail pipes. I have changed the fuel filter and checked the convertor. What is the problem??? Help me please. Thanks

Re: Running rough

beg, borrow , whatever a scan tool, see what the coolant temp sensor reads when its hot, if not correct, unplug sensor, should read -40_IIRC), then jump the pins , should read really hot, if good...........

next, pull the vacuum line off the FPR, should be dry, no fuel in it, if wey, you need a new regulator diaphram, if good..........

next, you may have leaking injectors, these are harder to diag, since you need to pull the upper intake off, post back if needed

Cool Re: Running rough

Yea just get rid of that junker and get you a real camaro ( like maybe a 68 camaro with silver strips )

Hey angel71rs may have something with that ECM thing

Have you pulled the plugs yet and replaced them ????

Next time I am over we should tap on that ECM a little

Check your IAC valve, it may be stuck closed. That is where the engine gets its air at an idle cause the throttle blades are closed.
