I have the 17 irocs, with 255 BF Goodrich KDW's all the way around. I love them!
For some extra cash you could get the 18" IROCS. That would look awesome. Frankly 17's look smallish for F-bodies and the 18 IROCS with 255/35 tires are the only combo that won't have fitment problems- if you want 18's that is..

I'm not against 18s. I think they'd look ok. But I want to be able to run drag radials on the street on the same rims. I'm thinking Nitto 555 Extremes up front and Nitto 555 DRs out back. 275/40/17

Besides, once you hit 18" and up the tires start getting prohibitively more expensive.

So I've got one last question. Assuming I get the Hotchkiss Pro springs I've been looking at that will drop the car 1 to 1.25" ..... can I get the 17x9.5"s in all 4 corners w/ the 275/40/17s without rubbing or having clearance issues? I don't want to roll the rear fenders at all.

Would 17x9" support a 275/40/17 tire? or is the 9.5" correct for the 275 width?

275/40/17's on the correct offset rim will not rub.
My friend has the 92 Firehawk wheels on his 82 Trans Am with the PST drop springs and his front wheels do not rub at all.
Just make sure that your shocks and struts are good when you lower the car, bad shocks will cause the car to sit lower and bottom out.

And yes, 275/40/17 will fit fine on a 17x9" rim.
