rear hatch

rear hatch

okay i got a 90 rs yesterday and i found out the key won't get the rear hatch open and the button inside the car won't work either so my question is how do i get the rear hatch open

look for the little light inside the rear of the car were the hatch latches. pop it out and grab you a screw driver! I've had to do it before.

I remember when I first bought my old 88 bird, I had the same problem, the lock was broken and the electric switch did not work as well. I took a different approach, I got a wiring diagram, found the wires that led to the hatch actuator motor and jumped them and popped the hatch that way. Then I went to GM and had them make me a brand new lock assembly and ordered a new electric hatch switch. Once I got the hatch open, I found that the hatch struts were shot as well so that was another project. All in all, it cost me about 100.00 to get my hatch functional again.
