Question on oil-smoking

Is it tru that using thick oil (dont remember exact weight, but it is written on paper at home!) and putting in a certain amount of gear-lube or rear-end lube (again, dont remember how much, but i have it written down at home) will stop the blue-smoke in my '85 Z-28? What if i were to combine this oil with some RESTORE... do ya guys/gals think it will work? car has 197,000 miles on it, and STILL pullin strong!
Additives will not help wore valve seals and stop the white smoke on start ups. Just a common problem on SBC engines with high milage. Replace as stated or live with it, will not result in any damageor loss of performance.
Oil smoke on startup is a common problem with SBC's, and is almost always caused by worn valve seals. Oil smoke after the engine is warm is usually blowbye, which is caused by worn rings and can only really be fixed by a rebuild. Running 20/50 oil will reduce the smoke, and running 80/90 mixed in will almost certainly stop it, but that's an awfully thick oil for your oil pump to be pushing through the engine. It will probably be alright for a while but the strain is gonna kill your oil pump eventually.
Also replace your PCV valve.....if it's bad that can cause it to burn a little oil.
