Put edelbrock carb on 84 trans am , question about timing advance.
hey guys , I put a 600 edelbrock carb on my fiance's trans am (formerly known as "my beater" to replace a dying 20 year old quadrajet. It runs great but it seems like the car has actually slowed down , then I got to thinking , will the car still advance the timing without the tps getting a reading ???? If not what can I do ??? is there a TPS retrofit or do I need to go old school with a Vacuum advance HEI from late 70s fbody ??? Let me know guys I have no Idea what to do !!!

Does it have an auto trans? Again, without the proper inputs, the torque converter lockup will no longer function. You will need a wiring kit to make it functional again.
All this info could have been obtained through a search, as this is one of the most common topics here... Why a moderator/administrator can't take the time to make a sticky out of one of these threads is beyond me.

Thanks , I didnt know it was so common a question . I guess it will be alright for now , the torque converter seems to be locking up just fine and even tho the car seems a lil slower , low end seems better and the gas mileage seems better altho I noticed now it smokes a little white smoke :/ instead of the rich black smoke it did with the dead quadrajet. Looks like theres more wrong with it than I thought. It does generally RUN good tho , its super reliable.
