pulling a seized engine

my son seized the 3.1 in his 91 camaro and we are unable to turn the engine over to remove the flex plate bolts to pull the motor. will the torkconverter come out with the engine or do i need to pull the transmision with it.
thanks

Re: pulling a seized engine

I would just yank the tranny with the engine. 6 cylinder is short enough to do it no issue.

Besides, since you will be putting a V8 in, the trans won't work anyways!

Re: pulling a seized engine

yea yank it all...it's easier to just pull it all out as 1 than trying to seperate it...

what are you gonna do then? hopefully your not gonna rebuild that 3.1...i think your son needs a nice carbed 350

To answer your question, yes the torque converter will come out of the trans.,
it just slips on.

Re: pulling a seized engine

He wants the v8 ! but at 16 and paying for your own gas and tickets he tought it a good idea to put a v6 back in and save up for a car he can rod that dose not need to be smoged every two years. We found a used 3.1 for $400. He is paying cence he ran it out of oil and keep driving it when it started to make a funny noise. bet he watches the gagues for now on!

I agree I would leave it al bolted together and pull the trans and engine together.
