Im putting the G80 8.5 in my truck soon.
Another mis-informed person about the function of limited slip rear. G80 is the RPO code for a LS rear.

so your saying that im better off finding a wrecked fourth gen with a limited slip and the right gear ratios rather than having my current diff rebuilt?

I don't know that I would go forth gen because the length is different. How about puting an auburn diff with good gears in it?

Auburn you can get from Jegs or Summit. You do need professional help to install the gears as they need to be shimmed, etc.

so its about 350 for an auburn diff and a little over 200 for the install, thats cool. now all i need is 600 dollars and ill be all set and thankx for the info '87DJP2001'

or i could just do what the guys at the f-bodyhideout told me to do, which was just to weld the rear axle into a spool diff. not very efficient but cost effective... lol
