Racing Seats in an Iroc

The camaro I am buying may need new seats. Instead of hunting for old 86 red seats, I was thinking about just buying some apc, recaro, or sparco type racing seats. They say they come with universal sliders. Here is my question... do they fit an 86 iroc. I know when people say universal.. it doesnt always mean EVERY car fits... has anyone installed any seats on their camaros and do these seats install easily or is it a huge process. Will these seats just bolt on with out custom fab work? Let me know guys i really appreciate it...

Swapping seats is easier than an oil change. 1 out of 5 on a difficulty scale. Just remove the four trim covers and remove 4 bolts. Disconnect the electrical connectors if equipped.

BTW - If you're not already aware the 93-02 F-Body seats are a direct bolt in. They're a cheap good looking alternative. Very common swap actually.

I would suggest you get some 4th gen seats, or another 3rd gen seat, or get your seats reapostured....those racing seats look a little too ricy...and putting them in a muscle car just doesn't look good.....you would be bringing the import world into the muscle car world, they don't clash too good.

racing seats having nothing to do with import/domestic sides. they look and work a hell of alot better then the stock seats, however they come at a hefty price. 4thgen transam seats offer the best support though if your going to go that route using "stock" gm seats.

apc makes cheaper alternatives to race style seats but they aren't comparable to corbeau, sparco, bride, etc. however you pay for these other brands.

expect to pay roughly 600-800 just for the seats in the more known brands and another 150+ in the brackets unless you manage to make your own or custom adapt a stock unit.

if you can afford 1,000+ for the sparco, recaro, etc then go for it they make a nice addition to any car. if your looking to spend 1-200 then pick up some seats out of a junkyard.
