Ia going on a 3700 km trip soon and might change my oil beforehand. Not due right now but will be on the trip and I'd rather get it out of the way now.

Engine has 171,000kms (110K miles) and smokes a little blue startiung it up--valve seals. But other then the minor leak or two is very slow to use any oil. In trip I've noticed it will consume more rapidly--maybe 3/4 litre for a 1000kms (I am kinda guessing at that amount)

Right now I have 10W30 semi-sythectic Penzoil.
Any recomndations for weight and brand?

you could step up to 10-40.

 

try lucas oil treatment when u add ur oil, they also sell some stuff that swells oil seals to help stop burning..its not much money, so its worth a shot
