No fuel!?!?!?!?!?

Allright, today I pulled off my old Street Avenger carb and replaced it with my new Edelbrock unit. I got everything hooked up, fuel line on, vacuum lines hooked up, new fuel filter on the correct way, PCV hooked up, etc. Anyways I hooked up the throttle linkage and everything and went to start the car.

I cranked it over for about 30 seconds and nothing. I pulled one of the fuel lines off, and there was no evidence that fuel had even flowed through there. I blew through the fuel filter and there was absolutely nothing that casused any blockage. I then kept one of the fuel lines off and put it into a soda bottle and turned the car over for another 10-15 seconds. Absolutely NOTHING went into the bottle.

Does anyone have any idea what the problem could be? I've tryed to figure it out for the last 2 hours but to no avail..... Any help would be appreciated.

Re: No fuel!?!?!?!?!?

Would the fuel pump just happen to go out at the exact same time as the carb though?

It could, cars do strange things sometimes.

You have an electric of mechanical fuel pump? If its electric sometimes you can hit the bottom of the tank w/ a 2x4 or somethin and sometimes the pump will work again for a little while.

Re: No fuel!?!?!?!?!?

there a way u can hot wire the pump... if u have a hanyes book it will say how in there.. my fuel pump just stop workin the other day. nothing seems to be wrong with it. fuses are good.. the hanyes books tells u to run a + wire(hot wire) from the + side of the battery to the plug thingy under the driver side dash(its that big plug under the dash on the driver side, by the center console. sorry i duno the name of it). u just put the hot wire in the first plug hole on the bottom line. u should hear the fuel pump come on.. if not then u have bad wirein sumwhere or the pump is gone.. this is how im runing my fuel pump now untill i get time to find out why it wont come on with the key... hope this helps

If it is an electrical pump, then when you turn the key to the "on" position, you will hear the fuel pump prime the system. If you don't hear it, something is causing the pump to not work (relay, wireing, or the pump itself.) If its mechanical, I can't help you.

Re: No fuel!?!?!?!?!?

It's an electrical, in-tank pump. I'm on vacation till Friday night, and I'll check some of these things when I get home.

Re: No fuel!?!?!?!?!?

Thanks for your suggestions guys, I figured it out. I guess the pump needed to be re-energized after swapping the carb.
