85+ is the years jegs lists for tpi because 85 was the first year for tpi. that pump should work without a problem.

Get and AC or Carter at Advance auto for under a hundred. You're right to get a good pump, that job is no fun.

I'd get a good one like Walbro. Pay a little more now and when you need the fuel later, you will have it. The removal of the tank SUCKS. I'd rather not do it at all. I changed a perfectly good stock pump when I changed my rusted tank just because I didn't want to have to do it all over again.

Hey man, aren't you using an inline pump? You might have a problem with swapping pumps if you are going to an intank since the 82 prolly did not have an EFI sender... Just a thought. Anyways, I got my walbro on ebay for 90 bucks brand new, its well worth it. I am going to be doing my tank/pump at the end of the month myself

it used to be CFI.. and i put the inline in to boost pressure.. been working fine for 2 years. till the intank one went out just wanna replace it and keep the inline, if i dont have to with the new pump ill just take it off.. my moms been driving it so she dont care if its running right.. she just wants to be able to drive it again lol, i dont want her to drive it but i have no choice, cause my dad "helped" me get the 96, but i got the 96 to have fun in so i dont mind if she breaks the 82 , the int has gone to crap since shes been driving.. probably cause i took so much care of it when i drove it but now i spend all my time on the 96
